Generators, water tankers kept ready
Srikakulam: Fani, the extremely severe cyclonic storm, has been predicted to affect five mandals — Itchapuram, Kaviti, Kanchili, Sompeta and Mandasa — mostly in Srikakulam district. Officials said that in all 15 mandals could take a hit.
Mr Nivas told Deccan Chronicle: “We have set up about 120 relief camps with food and drinking water supply, generators, and medical assistance.
Three IAS officers, 15 special officers, and 38 mandal level officers have been appointed to administer rescue and relief operations.”
The district administration concentrated more on rural areas. About 82 diesel generators and 60 water tankers have been positioned along with five JCBs in order to clear the fallen trees from the roads.
Additionally, the availability of essential commodities in ration shops and sufficient stock in all fuel stations has been ensured.
Generators have been provided to cellphone towers. Bulk mobile charging units were sent to villages for use in the case of power loss.
Officials shipped the chargers to 200 villages of which, 50 villages were noted to be equip-ped at the time of this report, while the remain villages are expected to receive their supply by Friday morning. Rescue teams worried as Fani would show its impact during the night.
