Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of an appeal filed by the office of the Assembly Speaker and 7 JD (S) rebel MLAs against an order of a Single Judge bench of the High Court. The bench had recently passed an order asking the Speaker to take a decision, on or before May 7, regarding disqualification of these seven JD (S) MLAs. have now joined Congress and are contesting the upcoming election on Cong ticket. The bench had passed the orders while asking Speaker to inform May 7, as the State Legislative Assembly will dissolve on May 8. The judge had also ordered on the petition filed by JD(S) MLAs C.N. Balakrishna from Shravanabelagola and B.B. Ningaiah from Mudigere (SC reserved) Assembly constituencies, who had moved the court against seven rebel MLAs – B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan (Chamarajpet), N. Cheluvarayaswamy (Nagamangala), A.B. Ramesh Bandisiddegowda (Srirangapattana), H.C. Balakrishna (Magadi), Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy R. (Pulakeshinagar), Iqbal Ansari (Gagavati) and S. Bheema Naik (Hagari Bommanahalli). They had contended that the seven MLAs should be disqualified from the time they voted against the official candidate of JD(S) B.M. Farooq in the Rajya Sabha election held on June 11, 2016.
