Osmania University officials to visit US to garner alumni funds

A two-member team led by the VC will be visiting the US cities from May 12 to 29.

HYDERABAD: Osmania University boasts of lakhs of alumnus who did their study in different streams like engineering, medicine, arts, sciences, law or managements and left for different destinations for career advancement and have settled down in some country ultimately. Except for countries like United States of America, Australia, and England as well as United Arab Emirates and Kuwait (from Gulf), OU alumni from other parts of the world is yet to join and get involved in the centenary celebrations of their alma mater.

The biggest response has come from US that has a lot of techies from Hyderabad. These NRIs reached out to the varsity administration over the last few months and expressed their interest in contributing to the university that laid foundation for them to scale higher positions in their career. OU alumnus settled in Chicago, San Franciso and other cities have got in touch with vice-chancellor S. Ramachandram and invited him to tour US to reach out to the huge population living in that country. They requested him to present OU’s vision going forward and development activities so that they can pitch in with decent contributions.

Accordingly, a two-member team led by the VC will be visiting the US cities from May 12 to 29, wherein power-point presentation would be made to NRIs. The varsity wants to use solar energy in a big way, develop lakes and greenery, construct hostels etc. in the next few years. This will be highlighted in the presentation. Australia, England and some Gulf countries will be the next stop for some officials of the varsity administration taking the tour in the coming months.

Mr.A.Shyam Mohan, vice-president of Alumni Association, OU, however sounded positive about involvement of former students from rest of the countries. “We will leave no stone unturned to reach out alumnus and faculty settled in various countries. An overseas committee will be appointed specifically for this purpose. We hope to bring a big number of the NRIs with OU connect for the Global Alumni meet scheduled in December,” he said.
