Karnataka former MLA's assets: ACB gets three months to probe

Mulgund alleged that Patil was able to amass huge assets illegally during his term as MLA from 2008 to 2013.

BELAGAVI: Fourth District Additional and Special Lokayukta Court in Belagavi has issued orders extending deadline to Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for submission of a report pertaining to the alleged illegal assets of three-time former MLA Abhay Patil of BJP. The ACB is expected to submit the report by June 26 as per fresh court's orders.

During a recent hearing into the petition filed by social activist Sujit Mulgund against alleged the illegal assets owned by Mr Patil, the court had given merely seven days to ACB to inquire into the case and submit the report. A senior investigating officer from ACB, Vishwanath Kabbur later appealed to the court for more time, following which the court granted three months.

In his complaint to the court, Mulgund alleged that Patil was able to amass huge assets illegally during his term as MLA from 2008 to 2013 and that there was a lot of difference in the actual assets the MLA owned and the one he provided in an affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers.
