HMDA chief expects to raise Rs 700 crore from LRS

Chiranjeevulu said that they are hoping to complete the drive by end of July.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is expecting to garner Rs 700 crore from its Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS).

According to HMDA commissioner T. Chiranjeevulu, they received a total of 1.75 lakh applications for LRS.

Out of this, nearly 60,000 applications are likely to be rejected by the metropolitan body due to lack of clear titles and also on technical grounds.

Elaborating further, Mr. Chiranjeevulu said some of the applications were found to be relating to assigned lands, Shikham (catchment) lands, notary lands etc. or those coming in the Master Plan routes or having title disputes.

“Also, some of the applicants were just uploading first and last pages of sale deed documents instead of the entire document. Shortfalls have been identified in over 63,122 applications and messages have been conveyed to concerned applicants to submit additional documents to go ahead with the process,” the HMDA commissioner said.

Further, he stated that the metropolitan body got Rs 290 crore revenue from the LRS scheme until now and it was hoping to get an additional Rs 400 crore by the end of July.

The metropolitan body is utilising services of 50 architects and 25 engineers along with 20 retired tahsildars on outsourcing basis to assist it in this drive.

Mr Chiranjeevulu said that they are hoping to complete the drive by end of July.

Also, the helpline section is being strengthened and four executives will be working in two shifts from morning 8.30 am till evening 8.30 pm to assist applicants in this process.
