Bengaluru: Depressed after mom's death, man ends life
BENGALURU: A 26-year-old cab driver allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Avalahalli in Byatarayanapura police station limits on Monday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Prashanth, a resident of BDA Layout in Avalahalli. According to police, the deceased took the extreme step as he was depressed over his mother's death one month ago.
Prashant hung himself from the ceiling on Monday evening. The incident came to light when his friend visited his house around 7.45 pm and got no response.
The worried friend broke open the door only to find Prashanth hanging from a ceiling fan.
He then called up Prashanth's sister and narrated the incident. She later informed the police.
"Prashanth was suffering from severe depression after his mother's death. The family was very much aware of Prashanth's condition, but did not expect him to take the extreme step. He was very close to his mother. He would keep remembering her all day long which got him into a depressed state," Prashanth's sister told the police. Byatarayanapura police have registered a case of unnatural death.
