Telangana power body issues safety rules
Hyderabad: The electrical inspectorate of the Telangana state government is observing ‘Electrical safety week’ from May 1 to 7. The aim is to create awareness among the public and working personnel regarding hazards of meddling with electric equipment or power lines.
A press release issued by the directorate said that electrical accidents occur due to ignorance about the impact of shock and non-usage of safety/protective devices and non-maintenance of effective earthing system.
The inspectorate addressed a letter to the chairman and managing director of TSTransco, TSGenco and all discoms to give wide publicity to electrical hazards and to bring down accidents to zero level.
It listed 18 safety slogans, with stress on use of rubber gloves, insulated electrical appliances and earth rod while attending to any emergency/work on the electrical system.
It asked all departments to conduct seminars, workshops, awareness programmes and display of banners for a week on electrical safety and also motivate their staff by announcing and awarding prizes for those who follow safety regulations and bring down electrical accidents.
Cinema theatres were advised to display the safety measures to be taken before the commencement of shows and during intervals.
