Hyderabad: Two alternative roads proposed by the GHMC once the Army shuts the Gough Road and the stretch from Safilguda railway gate to Allahabad Gate were cleared by municipal administration minister K.T. Rama Rao on Monday.
One of the roads will be of 60 feet width and connect the RK Puram flyover to the Safilguda railway gate. A 100-feet will be built from Safilguda railway gate West Marredpally.
The GHMC will begin work on the road after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao gives his clearance. The file will be submitted to the defence ministry to allowing local civic authorities to build the alternative roads.
Telangana MPs K. Kavitha, B. Vinod and A.P. Jitender Reddy will follow up with defence minister Manohar Parrikar for early clearance. They will also request the ministry to extend the May 31 date for the Gough Road closure till the alternative roads are ready.
