Post-Covid service in trains back

Supply of linen and blankets restored in Indian railways

Visakhapatnam: The Indian Railways at Visakhapatnam restored the facility of linen and blankets in the trains, a practice that was followed in the pre-Covid times.

In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the Railways had stopped supplying linen, blankets and curtains inside the trains that were suspended amid the pandemic as a precautionary measure from March 2020. Now, the practice was restored.

The Waltair division senior divisional commercial manager AK Tripathi said that they started issuing linen in trains from Sunday in phased manner, beginning with Visakhapatnam bound train 22847/22848 Visakhapatnam- Lokmanya Tilak Terminus- Visakhapatnam (Via Raipur) weekly train.

The supply of bedrolls will be made available in all other trains which will take a few more days to resume, because it needs to mobilise all the force, including labour and machines. However, passengers travelling in AC coaches could buy disposable bedroll kits from at stations as per their needs.
