Telangana: Mercury to soar higher this year
Hyderabad: In their latest summer outlook, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that the temperature in the country would be 0.5 degrees above normal this year from April to June.
The normal temperature is calculated by the Indian Meteorological Department every five days and has been noted to change every year. Over the past two weeks in Telangana state, the temperature remained two to three degrees higher than normal. The normal temperature in Hyderabad is 37.4 degrees but on Tuesday it was 40.4 — 3 degrees above normal.
Most areas in the city recorded temperatures as high as 41 to 42 degrees on Tuesday and the brief spell of showers on Sunday was only a temporary phenomenon.
The temperatures recor-ded by the Telangana State Development Planning Society show that Musheerabad experienced the highest temperature in the city at 42 degrees, followed by Bahadurpura at 41.9 degrees, and Qutbullapur at 41.7 degrees.
The situation will continue and heat waves have been predicted in some areas where temperatures are expected to rise more than 5 degrees above the normal level.
