Kochi: Kerala Police Association has come out strongly against Mohanlal-starrer 'Lucifer' for one of its posters showing the hero hitting on the chest of an officer with his foot.
In a complaint to the chief minister on Tuesday, its general secretary said the ad sends a wrong message to the society and sought action.
"This advertisement also has a title which sends a wrong message to the people. No action against such posters undoubtedly creates lawlessness. Earlier, criminals were attacking police, but nowadays our youth also involved in such criminal acts," it says.
"If it creates a thought in the society that police officers are to be attacked, there is nothing to wonder. Because films can influence the people in a much bigger way and it provokes people to do such acts. Those showing the usage of tobacco and liquor and not wearing helmets have statutory warnings displayed on the screens and posters. The scenes and posters showing an attack against police should also be made illegal."
Meanwhile, trolls and hate comments are spreading all across the social media against the complaint.
They argue that the poster does not spread anything wrong, but the people will take it only as a film. Those who support the police association said the scene should not be used for promotional purposes even if the act was contextual.
