Kerala HC seeks CBI view on Periya

The High Court has also asked the Crime Branch to submit the progress of the investigation into the case to the court in 10 days.

Kochi: The High Court on Tuesday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit its opinion on taking over the investigation of the Periya twin murder case in Kasargod district. The court issued the directive on a petition filed by parents of Kripesh and Sarath Lal, the two Youth Congress workers who were hacked to death allegedly by CPM activists including a local party leader. The court has also asked the Crime Branch to submit the progress of the investigation into the case to the court in 10 days.

The parents of the two youths have submitted the petition alleging that the investigation into the killing has been subverted by officials having allegiance to the CPM. The case has been posted for further hearing on April 12. Sharath Lal (24) and Kripesh (22) were killed by a gang on February 17. According to the police the killing was the result of political vendetta.
