Hyderabad woman rescued from Somalia

After a few days, Hussain left for Canada and never contacted Afreen.

Hyderabad: A Hyderabadi woman and her three daughters, who were reportedly facing harassment at Mogadishu in Somalia, were rescued by the government of India and brought to India on Tuesday.

Afreen Begum, a resident of Basharath Nagar under Kalapathar police station limits, was married to one Mohammed Hussain Duale, a Canadian passport holder on September 19, 2013.

They were blessed with three daughters and were living in the city.

In July 2018, they left for Somalia, as Hussain wanted to see his family members.

After a few days, Hussain left for Canada and never contacted Afreen. After that, she called her family members in the city on a few occasions, and they got anxious about her condition. They later got to know that Afreen and the children were confined to the house at Mogadishu, the area which frequently suffered bombings and attacks.

The woman’s father Syed Gaffar Ali approached the Telangana State government in 2018, which requested the MEA to take action and rescue the children and their mother.
