Hyderabad: Road sides turn dump yards in West Zone
Hyderabad: The sanitation in the West Zone has turned from bad to worse with residents dumping garbage and debris on the road side and the civic authorities turning a blind eye. Areas including Gachibowli, Nizampet, Kukatpally and Madhapur are the worst-hit.
Mr Durga Prasad Thota of Anjaiahnagar in Gachibowli said, residents have been dumping the debris and garbage on the wayside. He said that residents in the areas were unable to pass through the area due to foul smell emanating from the garbage. Mr Thota said that even after lodging several complaints with the civic body it has turned a blind eye to the issue for the last three months. He requested the civic body to set up a bins temporarily.
“I understand you guys are so busy in establishing new green parks, virtual polling centres, but 1st tell me when are you going to look at the above situation. At least tell me in which year you are going to start looking into this like 2020,2024 like that" (sic), Mr Durga Prasad posted it through his twitter handle.
Dr Vasireddy of Nizampet said that the fish market in the area with 30 shops have been creating problems to residents in the vicinity. He said that the shopkeepers were dumping the waste into the pond just behind of those shops causing bad smell to the surrounding areas. Mr Reddy also claimed that if the civic authorities further neglect the dumping within no time the pond will disappear. Potholes and road repair also plauge the inconveniencing the residents and commuters on Kukatpally and Madhapur.
Responding to the complaints Serilingampally zonal commissioner D. Hari Chandana said that the issues were forwarded to officials concerned and would be resolved at the earliest.
