Election Commission team arrives to review poll preparedness

The Commission will hold meetings with state officials including senior police and District Election Officers (DEOs).

Chennai: A team of officials from the Election Commission of India have arrived here on Tuesday evening for a two-day review of the preparedness for the April 18 Lok Sabha election in the State.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora is expected to arrive on Wednesday for the review meeting. Election Commissioners: Ashok Lavasa, Sushil Chandra, Director General (Expenditure) Dilip Sharma, and Deputy Election Commissioners Dhirendra Ojha and Sandeep Saxena have arrived to the city.

The team is scheduled to meet the national parties and state parties during its stay, according to the office of the State Chief Electoral Officer. A presentation by the Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo, is also scheduled. The Commission will hold meetings with state officials including senior police and District Election Officers (DEOs).

Meanwhile, the election commission’s teams which intensified the vehicle checking and so far they have seized about Rs 80 crore in cash besides Rs 132 crore worth gold.
