Thunderstorms to continue for few more days: Met Dept

The weather department has predicted that on April 4, thunderstorms/rainfall will occur at isolated places over coastal Karnataka.

BENGALURU: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru has predicted heavy thunderstorms for a couple of days more.

Dr Ramesh Babu, scientific officer, IMD, Bengaluru, said, “The flow of trough from Madhya Pradesh to Vidarbha is causing the heavy rainfall. The trough holds the atmospheric heat, leading to thunderstorms and rainfall."

The weather department has predicted that on April 4, thunderstorms/rainfall will occur at isolated places over coastal Karnataka and south-interior Karnataka.

Dry weather has prevailed over north-interior regions of the state. Hassan, Kodagu, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Shivamogga and Tumakuru have received light to moderate rains over the last few days.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagare Palike (BBMP) received over 11complaints of tree fall, including one in Yelahanka, while residents of Koramangala, Banashankri, Kumarswamy Layout and JP Nagar complained of power cuts.

The maximum and minimum temperature on April 3 will hover between 33 and 21 degrees Celsius and the city will receive a rainfall of 5.8mm with a humid weather.
