KOLLAM: Munroe Thuruthu is one of the sought-after destinations in the State which has found its place in the world tourism map for its exquisite scenic beauty and the thrilling canal cruise along the islets formed by the backwaters of Ashtamudi lake and Kallada river. The Kollam district tourism promotion council (DTPC) has now introduced new tourism packages for both domestic and international tourists, tapping the potential of the islands.

Daily a 40-seater boat, starting from Kollam water gateway, will take tourists to the beautiful islands. The tourists will then be taken in small row boats for a cruise along the canals that demarcate the islets of Munroe Thuruthu. After an ethnic-style lunch at the islands, the tourists will be brought back to Kollam. The trip will also be convenient for domestic tourists as the total duration would be six hours.

Apart from this, DTPC has also introduced new tourism packages that take the tourists to enjoy the beauty of Ashtamudi Lake visiting Sambranikodi and Peringalam Thuruthu. The tourists will get a chance to have a closer view of the mangrove forests that line the lake along the route.
