CHENNAI: Chennai-based healthcare provider — Medibazaar — launched its unique portal with a view to help people access affordable medical treatment with the click of a mouse or a swipe on the touch screen of the smartphone.
The portal — www.medibazaar.com — primarily aims at integrating patients, hospitals, laboratories, scan centers, pharmacies and other peripheral medical services into a single unit at minimal cost.
Paramedical services like home nursing, doctors, nurses and physiotherapy home visits, apart from home dressings, change of catheters and integrated follow-up services will also provided at very low cost through the portal.
Patients will be able to make an informed choice about the hospital and doctor they would like to opt for as the fees and cost of treatment would be shown alongside.
“Availability of specialists and hospital facilities for surgeries and procedures can be found out online without any intermediaries and hence the entire process becomes hassle-free for the patients and their attendants. Once the patient finalises the treatment, they can select dates for surgeries and other medical procedure,” says founder, Dr Newton Rajkumar.
Since the portal will provide a wide range of vital information required to make a decision on a treatment, the patient will be able to pick on the kind of services and the hospitals that they could afford. “There are more than 74 different types of health checkup packages at very heavily subsidised cost. For instance an MRI scan that costs Rs 8,000 can be taken at a cost of Rs 2,500 through the portal in Chennai,” said Dr Isaac Newton Rajkumar.
