Amit Shah to sound poll bugle in Old City
Hyderabad: With an eye on increasing its tally in Telangana, the BJP has begun its preparations for the general elections in 2019.
According to its leaders, the party has decided to start Lok Sabha seat-wise preparations from April 6 to 14 and each one will be attended by senior party leaders drawn from across the country.
Underlining its focus on dislodging the MIM from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency and an expected line of its campaign, BJP national president Amit Shah will kickstart the party’s election preparations in the Old City on April 8. In the last nine elections from 1984 to 2014, people in this LS seat have been electing the MIM candidates — late Sultan Salawuddin Owaisi and his son Asaduddin Owaisi.
Mr Shah would address two meetings — a public meeting and an internal meeting to be attended by polling booth-level workers.
Speaking to this newspaper, party spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said that the party has begun its preparations for the 2019 general elections, with a four-day training programme for the party cadres.
Reacting to advice from national leaders, BJP state president Dr K Laxman said he will strengthen the party units in rural areas.
