DC impact: Cops get couple for not repaying money

Rs 50,000 interest free loan given 5 yrs ago.

Chennai: A day after DC carried the plight of senior Anglo Indian woman who had been trying to get back Rs 50,000 interest free loan given to a couple five years ago, police on Friday nabbed the couple. Ronilla Shane, the woman who gave the money to the couple, Kannan and Eswari in 2011 had been running from pillar to post all these days to get back her money. Retired years ago from Binny Mills, Ronilla is a relaxed person now.

“Report about my plight appeared in DC on Thursday. And on Friday the couple was brought to the police station by a police team. I am able to meet the couple after so many months. They had already dodged at least three arrest warrants,” said Ronilla on Saturday.

More than the couple dodging without paying her money and by giving her bouncing cheques, the attitude of police personnel at Tondiarpet police station has been a cause for worry for her all these days. But on Saturday she had all the praise for the cops for doing their job so efficiently.

Her kind mind could not force the couple to make the payment immediately. “I could see that they were in a bad shape. They appeared battered. I decided to not to push too much. They had now promised to pay Rs 5,000 each for 10 months. So it would take 10 months for me to get the complete amount,” she told DC on Saturday. She is hoping to set the records straight when both sides appear in court on April 11.
