​Charu Sinha, the first woman posted as IG of CRPF southern sector

Hyderabad: Charu Sinha, a 1996-batch Telangana cadre IPS officer, has been posted as inspector-general of the southern sector of the CRPF. The first woman officer to hold the post, she assumed charge on Friday from Mahesh Chandra Laddha, who was transferred to the CRPF’s Jammu sector.

Charu Sinha has earlier served as IG in the Jammu sector for about a year before being posted to the Srinagar sector for over two-and-a-half years. She was also the first woman CRPF IG to command the central paramilitary force’s Bihar sector for anti-Naxal operations.

Before moving to the CRPF on deputation, Charu Sinha had served in various positions in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. She also served in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Kosovo wherein she handled the professional services unit.
