Vijayawada: Disabled voters to get ramps at polling booths
Vijayawada: Special arrangements will be made for the differently-abled at polling stations for the forthcoming general elections.
Stating that all measures for the convenience of the differently-abled voters will be made, district collector A. Md. Imtiaz on Saturday directed poll officials to arrange ramps at the polling stations and also wheelchairs.
He also directed officials to arrange transportation facility for the differently-abled persons from their residence to the polling station and back.
On the occasion, the collector informed that till the date, as many as 31,718 differently-abled have registered as voters in the district. He appealed to differently-abled to register their name in voter list and to cast vote without fail.
Joint-collector 2 P. Babu Rao, DRO A. Prasad, differently abled welfare department AD A.V.D. Narayana Rao, MEPMA project director G.V. Suryanarayana, municipal commissioners and others were present.
