BWSSB set for summer, to plug all leakages
Bengaluru: If there is a water leakage anywhere in the city, inform the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) and they will fix it immediately.
The BWSSB has taken up a drive to fix all leakages to avoid wastage of water, keeping in mind the upcoming summer season. A senior BWSSB officer said, “We have informed our officials from every zone in the city to carry out a recce and to find out if there is water leakage because of pipe damages and fix them immediately. In a couple of weeks, we will ensure that there is no leakage anywhere in the city."
He said, “We have received orders from the government that there should be no leakage reported in the city, as we want to save as much water as possible, especially during summer.”
Residents will also be asked to keep a watch on their sumps and overhead tanks and not to let them overflow. “A few measures have been taken to store water and overcome shortages, if any, during summer. But according to reports, we have surplus water this season and there is no worry. We are just taking precautionary measures to ensure that there is no water shortage,” said another officer.
He said that the officials will submit a report about the number of leakages found and fixed in their zones, which will be given to the government. For now, the priority is to ensure that there is no leakage of water, he said.
