Palakkad: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited the house of tribal youth Madhu, who was lynched by a mob on February 22, at Attappadi on Friday and assured his family members that the state government would take all necessary steps to ensure that the murderers would get maximum punishment. The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by health minister K.K. Shylaja, spent 10 minutes at the victim's house at Chindakkiyur.
Later, he held a meeting with officials at Palakkad and announced a slew of measures for the welfare of the tribal people. “I have asked the officials of district administration and those associated with tribal welfare to immediately address the complaints raised by the tribal people.” “Community kitchens will be fully operational soon and a survey will be conducted to identify deserving adivasis who need assistance for physical and mental ailments,” Mr Pinarayi told mediapersons.
As requested by the residents of Chindakkiyur, Mr Pinarayi assured that the 4-km road from Mukkali to Chindakkiyur and the forest road connecting the main road and the tribal hamlet of Madhu would be soon renovated and that the adivasis will be given land as per Forest Rights Act. The Chief Minister also visited the house of Youth League worker Safeer at Mannarkkad, who was hacked to death on Sunday by CPI men. CM told the relatives of the slain youth that stringent action would be taken against the assailants.
