Medicos ask MCI chief Dr Jaishri Mehta to save their future

The NTR University of Health Sciences has refused to permit 100 students of FIMS Kadapa.

Vijayawada: Students and parents of Fatima Institute of Medical Sciences (FIMS), Kadapa had touched the foot of Medical Council of India chairman Dr Jaishri Mehta here at Gannavaram Airport and pleaded with her to save the future of their children. The NTR University of Health Sciences has refused to permit 100 students of FIMS Kadapa as it conducted the admissions in the year 2015-16 against the guidelines of Medical Council of India (MCI).

“We have been requesting the state government since a long time to continue our course but they are not heeding to our requests. We have begged MCI chairman Dr Jaishri Mehta to consider our future. We had not got justice in the court. We will lose our valuable career with this decision,” says Khan, a student representative.

Minister for health Kamineni Srinivas said that the Supreme Court gave clear guidelines on this issue and directed the FIMS management to return the fee paid by the students. Dr Jaishri Mehta had got through the issue and assured that she will act as per the guidelines. The MCI chairman met Andhra Pradesh Chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and discussed about the increase in number of post-graduation and UG medical seats in the state as well as improving the medical education standards in the state.
