Chennai: Charging the AIADMK government with indulging in a false propaganda that it had turned the state into a power surplus State, DMK chief M. Karunanidhi asserted that not a single unit of electricity had been manufactured from power projects announced by the AIADMK government.
“There is no truth in the claims that 5,346.50 MW of power is being produced from the schemes implemented by the AIADMK government in the last five years”, he said in a statement here.
He said 27 MW of power had been produced from the projects implemented by the AIADMK government during its previous regime from 2001-2006 and 2,250 MW had been added due to Central government schemes.
Listing the schemes which had resulted in the increase of power production, he said all those projects were started during the previous DMK regime. None of the schemes announced by the AIADMK government during the last five years has began generating power, Karunanidhi said and added the details are found in the policy note placed by the AIADMK government in the Assembly.
