Drive safe, curb mishaps, says Cops

Road safety pledges were administered on the participants at various Road Transport Authority (RTA) offices.

Hyderabad: The state transport department on Sunday organised bike rallies across the state to spread awareness regarding use of helmet by pillion riders. This marked the culmination of the week-long 31st national road safety week celebrations.

Road safety pledges were administered on the participants at various Road Transport Authority (RTA) offices.

“The responsibility of road safety is yours, not the police. Two-wheeler riders must wear helmets and people travelling in cars must wear seat belts. Cell phone driving and driving after consuming alcohol are extremely dangerous as they diverts one’s attention leading to accidents,” said transport minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar who participated in the closing ceremony at Khammam.

He stressed on the importance of travelling in public transport, especially TSRTC buses, which he termed as the ‘safest’ travel mode.
