Chennai: The AIADMK will forge alliance with like-minded parties at the time of polls and for now the party was getting geared up to contest from all the 40 Lok Sabha seats including the lone Puducherry constituency, party seniors D. Jayakumar (Fisheries Minister) and Sellur K. Raju (Cooperation Minister) have said.
While reiterating that his party would have truck with those parties that do good to the people of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Jayakumar told reporters here on Saturday that a formal announcement on alliance would be made by the party high command at an appropriate time.
“We support the Central government on programmes that benefit the people of Tamil Nadu and oppose it tooth and nail on schemes that are not beneficial to our people,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Madurai, Mr. Sellur Raju said the AIADMK will forge electoral alliance as per the wishes of the party members.
“Anybody can express the views but the decision on alliance is taken by the party’s governing body council and high-level committee at the time of elections… At present we are gearing up to contest from all 40 seats on our own. Just like strategies are formulated to fight and win the elections, our party would take appropriate decision on forging electoral alliance at the time of elections,” he said.
He also took a dig at the opposition DMK saying while in opposition it would wax eloquence but once it comes to power the DMK will forget the people.
