Vacant posts in Karnataka High Court: Advocates plan stir
Bengaluru: Advocates from across the state and Bengaluru will hold a relay hunger strike for a week starting February 5 in front of the High Court, demanding that 38 vacant posts of judges at the Karnataka High Court be filled.
The High Court has a sanctioned strength of 62 judges, but 38 have remained vacant.
The members have decided to boycott court sessions across the state for a day if their appeal for filling up of the judicial vacancies is not considered.
A.P. Ranganatha of the Advocates’ Association Bengaluru (AAB) said that if their appeal is not met, they will take assistance from the state's political leaders and send a delegation to meet the Chief Justice of India and the Prime Minister, seeking their intervention.
“If this does not yield result, we will organise a protest before Parliament,'' he said.
HC notice to BBMP, state
The High Court on Friday issued notices to the BBMP and state government on alleged illegal construction of shops and buildings on the service road adjoining the Madiwala- Sarjapur Road.
