Kudumbashree gets a handful

Thiruvananthapuram: Remarking that Kudumbashree is a descendant of the movement in Kerala’s renaissance period, which inspired women to leave the kitchen and take centre stage, finance minister T. M. Thomas Isaac announced various programmes that will take it forward.

Kudumbashree executive director S. Harikishore, in a press statement, said, “The budget, which gives special emphasis on the women empowerment and social security projects of Kudumbashree, offers an opportunity to neighbourhood group members to find jobs in new and varied sectors. The best example for this is the announcement of 14 model women-friendly panchayaths in the state.”
