Karnataka: Police see a Honnavar in JC Nagar murder

Yeddyurappa assured it that this party would do its best to ensure that his killers got the maximum punishment.

Bengaluru: A political slugfest has broken out between the ruling Congress and the Opposition BJP over the death of BJP worker Santosh who was murdered on Wednesday night in Chinnappa Garden, JC Nagar. While the Congress dismissed claims that the killing was political, the BJP, intent on scoring a point ahead of the polls, claimed the killers were targeting BJP workers.

Leading the charge for the BJP was state president B.S. Yeddyurappa who visited Santosh’s residence and handed over a cheque for Rs 1 lakh to the family of the deceased. He assured them that the party will pressurise the state government to ensure the maximum punishment for the accused, compensation to the family and a government job for a family member since Santosh was the lone breadwinner.

Speaking to reporters, Mr Yeddyurappa said the BJP stands vindicated as it had been claiming that law and order has completely collapsed in the state.

Top police sources told Deccan Chronicle that they were concerned that communal tensions were being stoked ahead of the polls just as it was in Honnavar and Surathkal in the coastal districts.
