Karnataka BJP cell performs Ashtayama Yagna
Bengaluru: Culminating the month-long awareness programme to create awareness on cow protection, the state BJP’s cow protection cell organised an Ashtayama Yagna, to pay obeisance to the cow which is reverred by Hindus and Jains.
The 48-hour non-stop yagna started in the premises of Shakti Ganapati temple near JP Nagar, Mohan Raj, the temple trust chairperson said. This will continue till Saturday evening and senior BJP leaders including, B.S. Yeddyurappa, Ananth Kumar are expected to attend.
A ritual was performed during the Yagna when the entire Ramayana was read out. A special team of poojaris came from north India to do this. Under the ritual, the entire Ramayana is read out and obeisance is paid to lord Rama and the cow. The poojaris who sit in the Yagna for 48 hours do not take any food and continuously perform the Yagna.
A special troupe has come from Janakapuri in UP which will perform an episode of Sita’s wedding on the sidelines of this yagna. Over 5000 people are expected to take part in the Yagna and seek blessings, Mr Raj said.
