Car on fire in Bengaluru, woman, son die

According to police, the mother and son were out shopping in their Maruti Suzuki Ritz car.

Bengaluru: A 30-year-old woman and her two-year-old son were burnt alive when the car they were sitting in caught fire in an apartment complex at Whitefield on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Neha Verma and her son Param. Prima facie, a short-circuit may have triggered the fire in the car, the police said.

According to police, the mother and son were out shopping in their Maruti Suzuki Ritz car. They returned home around 3 pm and went to the basement to park the car. As Neha parked the car, she and her son were about to step out of the car when a massive fire started in the car. Neha and her son did not have time to open the doors and were burnt alive inside the car.The residents of Samadhur Apartment, where the incident occurred, informed the fire and emergency personnel who rushed to the spot and doused the fire. However, it was too late by then as both mother and son were charred to death.
