Hyderabad: Child panel says book teacher

Hyderabad: The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights directed the Siddipet commissioner of police to register a case against a school teacher who allegedly beat a nursery student. The commission directed the commissioner to instruct the inspector to register a case and submit a report by February 10.

The commission was acting on a complaint lodged by a Siddipet students union which alleged that the teacher, Aparna, working in Sri Chaitanya Techno School in Siddipet, had beaten Bhaskar, the nursery student.

The commission said the incident was a severe violation of child rights and a cognisable offence. It noted that the crime was punishable under Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act and 324 of the Indian Penal Code. It directed the police to register a case against the school management.
