KAKINADA: Heavy police forces have been rushed to Kirlampudi, the village of Kapunadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham, who has set a deadline of February 5 for the government to include Kapus in the BC list.
Sources said cops are waiting to arrest Mudragada and are awaiting orders from the government. Meanwhile, discussions are being held with the government and Kapu leaders for a compromise.
It is learnt that Kapu leaders have proposed that if the government completes the Kapu Commission’s report within three months Mudragada may postpone his movement. The government is also in favour of the demand and discussing all possibilities with officials.
“If discussions can be made a success the row may end. Otherwise the police would take a decision on Mudragada as per law,” said a police official. Sources said that around 2,000 armed policemen have been deployed at Kirlampudi. At present the police personnel are at the Kirlampudi police station and the nearby Kalyana Mandapam.
According to police officials around 50 pickets have been set up in East Godavari district including Konaseema. Kapu leaders are in touch with Mudra-gada Padmanabham at his house and holding talks with him on future course of action....
