Hyderabad: The Centre for Cellular and Mollecular Biology (CCMB) and National Geophysics Research Institute (NGRI) are headless following the retirement of Dr Ch. Mohan Rao last month.
A senior CCMB official said that the process to find a replacement for Dr
Rao was started in December but has still not been completed. Professor Amitabha Chattopadhyay, the seniormost scientist at CCMB, is functioning as incharge director.
A senior scientist said, “Not having a full-time director does not affect research directly. It, however, does have an overall impact as major decisions related to finances and the administration cannot be taken.”
