Hyderabad: Depressed over a man allegedly passing lewd comments at her an 18-year-old girl committed suicide. The girl, Kumari Bibi, set herself on fire at her home on Sunday and died on Tuesday. In her statement she said that one Piyush had said that she was sexy and requested sex.
Police said Kumari Bibi had discontinued education many years ago and was staying at home. On Sunday, while she was collecting water outside her house, Piyush, an autorickshaw driver, passed lewd comments at her. “He said that she was sexy and asked her to have sex with her,” said SI B. Ravikumar Reddy.
She poured kerosene and set herself ablaze.
Her elder sister saw this and alerted neighbours. She suffered 62 per cent burns. Based on her statement, cases were registered against Piyush. Police has launched a hunt to nab Piyush.
