Andhra Pradesh doctors upset with scrutiny
Hyderabad: Two-hundred and forty-one doctors from Andhra Pradesh have been allotted Telangana according to the final list submitted to health minister Dr Laxma Reddy on Tuesday evening.
It is, however, alleged that a few of these doctors produced fake certificates while many others did not produce any certificate but simply opted for TS and got the allotment.
A senior doctor said, “How can the director of health and medical education Dr M. Ramani allot TS to these doctors who have not produced any certificates? Why should their desire to stay back in TS teaching hospitals be considered? When they belong to AP…why have they been retained?”Upset doctors have not only demanded cancellation of the list but also removal of Dr Ramani.
Dr R. Raghu of Gandhi Hospital said, “We have submitted a list of the fake documents submitted by doctors along with their names to the health minister and have requested him to highlight this fact and take action. “The fake documents submitted by spouses have also been highlighted. What is most appalling is the lack of verification by the health officials showing gross negligence.”
Interestingly the list was signed by the health secretary and this is now becoming a bureaucratic tussle as health officers in the director of health and medical education’s office are being pulled up.
An official said, “The list was signed by the secretary and uploaded on the website. Now the secretary has to write to the Kamalnathan Committee that there are mistakes in the tentative list which reflects badly on the state government.”
Seniors call for fair look at documents
Doctors who are originally from Andhra Pradesh but working in the teaching hospitals of Telangana for the last 20 to 30 years are upset with the manner in which TS doctors have scrutinised the documents. Senior doctors working in government hospitals state that a fair view must be taken by the government.
They wanted the documents submitted by them to be properly analysed.
A senior doctor said, “It is the duty of the health officials and government officers to check the validity of the documents. How can doctors from TS verify the documents?” Doctors who have submitted spouse certificates want a proper verification process by an independent committee to ensure that they get their due.
A senior doctor said, “We also want justice, no one must call our valid certificates fakes because they want us to leave Hyderabad. This is not fair.”
Doctors with more than five years of service in teaching hospitals want to complete their terms and hence have opted for Telangana.
