Ravindra Bharati shut, Sundays to miss out on \'fundays\'

Both \'Sunday Funday’ at Tank Bund and ‘Ek Shaam Charminar ke Naam’ programmes put off indefinitely with immediate effect

Hyderabad: The state government on Sunday said that as part of its efforts to ‘prevent’ the spread of Covid-19, it was shutting down the Ravindra Bharati auditorium, besides indefinitely putting off ‘Sunday Funday’ at Tank Bund and ‘Ek Shaam Charminar ke Naam’ programmes with immediate effect.

With this, there will no longer be any traffic restrictions on Tank Bund on Sunday evenings, the government said.

The department of culture announced that it was indefinitely cancelling all cultural events and programmes at Ravindra Bharati until further notice as part of its ‘precautionary measures’ to contain Covid-19.

Stating that there will no longer be ‘Sunday Funday’ events in the city, Arvind Kumar, special chief secretary of municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) tweeted that the decision follows the Covid guidelines issued by the state government on Saturday.

This is to “ensure we don’t indulge in any avoidable social activity which might lead to increased exposure & probability of catching Covid from others in a crowd,” he said.
