Mumbai: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi announced the appointment of Dr Ghaffar Quadri as working president of the Maharashtra unit and former Mumbai MLA Waris Pathan as national spokesperson of the party.
Owaisi tweeted about the appointment of Dr Quadri even as Pathan said that he will become the voice of the country’s minority communities as the party’s newly-appointed spokesperson and carry forward AIMIM’s ideology.
“I am very happy as the party has shown confidence in me. I will pitch my voice for the minorities and my party, and will also see to it that I take my party’s ideology forward,” Pathan said.
It may be recalled that Pathan, a lawyer by profession, represented the Byculla constituency in Mumbai and contested the incumbent seat in the Maharashtra Assembly elections but lost to Shiv Sena’s Geeta Gawli, daughter of gangster Arun Gawli.
