KCR sets new project deadline

The CM visited the Annaram and Sundilla barrages and pump house at Goliwada and gravity canal lining works from Kannepalli to Annaram.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao made it clear to irrigation authorities and contractors that delay in the completion of the Kaleshwaram project would not be tolerated.

Mr Rao was speaking to officials on Wednesday after visiting barrages, pump house and gravity canals which are part of the Kaleshwaram project, during his two-day visit. He directed irrigation department officials to expedite construction work of all barrages, pump house and gravity canals by the end of March 31.

He told the authorities that he would visit the project again to review the works and in the meantime the authorities should ensure completion of work and the coffer dam works and conduct of trial runs in April.

The Chief Minister visited the Annaram and Sundilla barrages and pump house at Goliwada and gravity canal lining works from Kannepalli to Annaram. The contractor of the Annaram barrage assured Mr Rao that they would complete construction by the end of February. Mr Rao also visited the second pump house at Rajeshwarraopet under the SRSP rejuvenation scheme.

Reiterating that there was no dearth of funds, he asked the authorities and contract companies not to compromise with regard to project safety and completion within the stipulated time.
