Hyderabad: During the drunk and drive checks on New Year’s eve, a total of 1,235 persons were found driving under the influence of alcohol.
The traffic cops have seized their vehicles.
More than 120 static/mobile teams were deployed across the city and they conducted the special drunk and drive tests and recorded the whole thing.
Breathalysers were used, rash and negligent driving, over speeding, triple riding on two-wheelers and other traffic violations were also checked from 10 pm to 4.30 am on the intervening night of December 31, 2018 and January 1, 2019.
Additional commissioner of police (traffic) Anil Kumar said, “Due to the special drive conducted by the Hyderabad traffic police, no accidents were reported on the roads and traffic was also managed throughout the night. To create awareness, the Hyderabad traffic police had also put flexies at various roads and junctions in the city, requesting the public to follow traffic rules.”
