BJP on steel bridge project: Government wants to help contractors

I will head one team and senior leader, K.S. Eshwarappa will head the other.

Bengaluru: Former minister, Katta Subramanya Naidu of the BJP, alleged here on Wednesday that the state government was once again talking of building a steel flyover from Chalukya Circle to Mekri Circle in the city only to favour six contractors, who were lobbying for it.

"We will strongly oppose any proposal to revive the steel flyover project," he declared, recalling that the Siddaramaiah government had dropped the project in view of stiff opposition from the public and civic activists.

Claiming that the Indira Canteens had failed to cater to the poor and needy as promised, he alleged there was large scale misappropriation of funds in their operations.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters here, BJP OBC Morcha president, B.J. Puttaswamy said with the party having set a target of winning 25 Lok Sabha seats from the state, the outfit would arrange for two teams to tour all 28 Lok Sabha constituencies to campaign for it.

"I will head one team and senior leader, K.S. Eshwarappa will head the other. We will tour 14 Lok Sabha constituencies each and hold meetings with OBC morchas in districts, taluks, mandal and booths," he added, explaining that OBC district morcha chiefs had been instructed to submit reports on reconstitution of defunct booth committees by the party high command.

Mr. Puttaswamy said the Karnataka OBC Morcha workers would attend the national BJP OBC Morcha rally in Patna, which would be addressed by PM Narendra Modi, on February 16 and 17.
