Hailing from a Dalit family Bindu is an Asst.Professor at Kannur University.

Kozhikode: Prof Bindu Ammini, 42, who has created history along with Kanakadurga of Malappuram, by worshipping at Sabarimala early on Wednesday, had closely worked in CPI (ML) along with her husband K.V. Hariharan a decade ago. They live at Poyilkavu near Koyilandy. She was an advocate at Koyilandy bar some time back and is now assistant professor at School of Legal Studies under the Kannur University in Thalassery.

“Our acquaintance began through politics. We settled down at Poyilkavu after our marriage,” says Hariharan. Bindu originally hails from a Dalit family in Pathanamthitta. Hari-haran was the former Kozhikode district secretary of Yuvajanavedi, the ML’s youth wing. Bindu was in the state committee of ML’s student wing, Kerala Vidyarti Sanghadana.

Hariharan knew about Bindu going to Sabarimala for the second time in the wee hours of Wednesday. She along with Kanakadurga had attempted to reach the temple in December, but had to return due to stiff resistance of the devotees.

The police have provided security to Bindu’s house here as per the request of Hariharan. A group of people under the banner of Sabarimala Karma Samiti protested in front of their house chanting prayers on Wednesday.
