Mysuru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president Dinesh Gundurao claimed that veteran leader Srinivasprasad had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party for selfish reasons and should not have done it.
Reacting to a statement by former Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Janardhan Poojary on the Nanjangud byelection, he said, “It is a clear violation of the party protocol. He could have discussed it in the party forum and not spoken at a press meet. This has been brought to the notice of the Congress high command, the decision is left to them.”
To a query on the candidate for the byelection to the Assembly from Nanjangud segment, he said, “Observers have been sent to the constituency. Once the report arrives, the candidate will be finalised after discussion with the Chief Minister as he is from the district. We are prepared for the elections, we are confident that we will win,” he said.
