Bengaluru: The Reserve Bank of India has made it clear that new Rs 500 denomination notes are now available with banks across the state.
RBI officials said that if any city resident found difficulty in getting these notes from any bank branch, they can approach the RBI with all the details, like the name of the bank branch and details of bank account number.
But officials from both nationalised and private sector banks said that the new notes are yet to be released to bank ATMs. "Compared to the demand, the supply of Rs 500 notes is very less. They are not available at ATMs," said a bank manager.
Meanwhile, queries for various banking products, including housing and small business loans, witnessed a steep increase on Monday after the announcements made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the New Year's Eve. "A lot of people have been asking for the quotes on housing loan EMIs. Small businessmen who have current accounts also want information on increased liquidity amount to expand their businesses," said a product manager from a private bank.
