Kerala's first woman District Congress Committee President no more
Kollam: The first woman District Congress Committee President in the State, Saraswathi Kunjukrishnan (93), died of age-related ailments at ‘Kulangara house’, Kottakkakam, near Iron Bridge here on Monday morning. She was the KPCC General Secretary in 1978 and was the Kollam DCC President during 1982-’86. She was also a member of the Travancore Devaswom board twice. Kalangara Kunjukrishnapillai, former DCC President and a two-time MLA, is her husband.
The body will be kept at the Kollam DCC office for the public to pay their last respects on Tuesday 4pm to 6pm. The body will be cremated at Mulankadakom crematorium on Wednesday. DCC President Bindu Krishna announced that all official programmes of the DCC have been cancelled. Various Congress leaders will attend a meeting to pay tributes to her at Kollam DCC office on Wednesday at 4 pm. Saraswathi Kunjukrishnan leaves behind children Anil Kumar (retired General Manager (personal) KMML), Mini, and Dr. Neetha.
