Debris dumping fine comes in to force in Hyderabad

Officials assigned to check violations and take action.

Hyderabad: Dumping construction waste in the open will attract a penalty of Rs 10,000 and the violator will be booked under Section 413 of the Municipal Act.

This move has come into force since January 1. Construction debris illegally disposed of in the open or on footpath, roads and colonies has become a headache for the GHMC.

Builders willing to dispose of waste to GHMC have been asked to call the circle town planning officer with the address. The debris will be removed after paying charges levied per tonne.

After much effort, the city will now have four centralised separation cement debris plants where the debris will be dumped for being recycled. The end product will be put to sale by the corporation Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy said, “An enforcement wing has been formed. The officers will inspect their respected areas and find out firms /agencies or individuals dumping debris. The officer will also identify illegal banners, cut outs and posters and will issue notices to the firms and agencies according to the violation. They will take up the issue with the chief enforcement officer for fining or filing of police case”.

Ways to file a complaints – GHMC 24x7 call center – 040-21111111, Through ‘My GHMC app -GHMC Integrated APP: Android Mobile App for GHMC to enable Citizen to avail following services: Grievances:Citizens can submit grievances related to potholes, dumper bin overflow, Open dumping points, Stormwater – manhole cover, sewerage- manhole cover, street lights, etc. and they will be automatically forwarded to concerned Officer and the status of disposal can be viewed by Citizen.

Another effective way to the complaint is to dial 100, on mentioning a civic complaint, the operator will direct the caller to GHMC call centre.
