Strict green protocol at International Film Festival of Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Chalachithra Academy has tied up with Suchitwa Mission and Thiruvananthapuram Corporation to strictly enforce green protocol at all venues hosting the 24th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). Mayor K Sreekumar said that disposables and all single-use plastic would be strictly banned at the venues of IFFK, which would kick off in the state capital on Friday.
Mayor said that strict action would be taken against vendors, theatres violating the green protocol. “A meeting was held with the theatre owners, the Chalachithra Academy, Suchitwa Mission and other concerned departments. We have given strict instructions to the theatre owners to not use plastic and other disposables at their premises. The green army volunteers would be strictly enforcing green protocols,” said Mayor K Sreekumar.
He said that strict direction has been given to the theatre owners to maintain hygiene at theatres. “They should ensure that clean toilets after each show. Also, we have noticed that the air conditioning at theatres is not functioning properly. We have instructed them to do the maintenance of air conditioners before the festival,” said the Mayor. He said that directions have been given to KSEB to undertake maintenance of streetlights and replace the defunct lights before the festival. He said that mobile toilets would be stationed at Tagore Centenary Hall premises to facilitate delegates.
