Palakkad wins school fest
Kasargod: Palakkad district retained the champions trophy at the 60th State Schools Kalolsav which concluded at Kasargod on Sunday and took home the gold cup. In the neck and neck fight between three districts Kannur, Palakkad and Kozhikode, Palakkad managed to win the title for the second consecutive year by a margin of just two points.
Palakkad bagged 951 points while Kozhikode and Kannur district shared the second position bagging 949 points each.
Thrissur district came next by bagging 940 points. Palakkad has retained the title with the 170 points bagged by Gurukulam Higher Secondary School, Alathur which emerged champions among individual schools.
Regarded as one of the most popular school festivals, the venues were packed with audience on all days. The valedictory ceremony held at P. Kunhiraman Nagar was also packed.
Minister for education C. Raveendranath, minister E. Chandrasekharan, Rajmohan Unnithan MP, actors Ramesh Pisharody and Binduja Menon were among others present. Education minister C. Raveendranath handed over the trophy to the Palakkad team. It is for the third time Palakkad is bagging the ‘champions’ title in history.
